A Multifaceted View of Hospice
Online
Added:

A Multifaceted View of Hospice will address the difficult topic of death and dying. Health care providers often deliver this news after treatments have failed and options are extremely limited and unlikely to change the outcome. Once a disease has progressed to the conversation of end of life options, health care providers may feel they let their patient down. Although providers offer every available resource to cure their patients, dying is a natural process that can be supported with Hospice and Palliative Care.
Also described as end of life care, this type of patient care is extremely important to the patient and their family. Such care often involves a team of professionals who specialize in this care. The goal of end of life care is to relieve suffering and improve quality of life while respecting the patient's wishes.
This course will identify the signs and processes that occur naturally with death, the types and purpose of hospice care, eligibility determinations, and how hospice and palliative care can support you in caring for your patients.
At the conclusion of this activity, attendees should be able to:
Recognize the types and purpose of hospice care
Define the initial eligibility determination and admitting diagnosis
Identify what hospice can and cannot do for your patient (and their family)
Analyze measurable data points and what they mean for eligibility
Faculty includes:
Gail J. Dudley, D.O., CHCQM, MHA, FABQAURP, FACOFP
