CE Spotlight Course - Free for Members December 15-January 14, 2026
This course discusses the numerous benefits of utilizing artificial intelligence methods to supplement clinical acumen in diagnosis and treatment of many diseases in the hope of better optimizing outcomes. We will outline some the challenges of utilizing AI, specifically in minimizing bias, promoting an ethical framework for clinical care, providing reproducible and accurate clinical support, and maximizing interpretability and explaining the ability of differing artificial intelligence algorithms. The course conceptualizes different AI model types used in clinical and research areas and explains artificial intelligence quality assurance concepts, such as issues of physician patient care responsibility, how the standard of care may change beyond the use of clinical practice guidelines and randomized control trials, and some legal issues in implementation and malpractice.
At the conclusion of this activity, members of the interprofessional team should be able to better:
- Define artificial intelligence (AI) paradigms and explain their use in healthcare.
- Analyze the benefits, challenges, and limitations of the use of AI in healthcare.
- Describe AI models and their use in different specialty areas of practice and research.
- Assess an overview of AI-enhanced medical quality assurance.
