Participatory health care (PHC) intrinsically expands Health Care Quality Management by encouraging the health care consumer (HCC) and the health care provider (HCP) to resolve the barriers that currently lead us to a variety of quality challenges.
This course provides an overview of the attributes of the participatory patient and their provider together with a suggested pathway to a mutually participatory relationship.
At the conclusion of this activity, members of the interprofessional team should be able to better:
- Define the commonalities and differences of the six "brands" of participatory health care (PHC) discussed.
- Identify the contribution participatory health care makes to the success of value-based health care.
- Describe why participatory health care is an advance for quality management.
- Outline how to incorporate strategic participatory health care implementation.
